Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is an abnormal, cancerous growth of cells in tissues of the ovary (female reproductive glands). Ovarian cancer is often called the “silent” killer because many times there are no symptoms
until the disease has progressed to an advanced stage.

Early symptoms of ovarian cancer are often mild, making this
disease difficult to detect. Some early symptoms may include:

•  Fullness or discomfort in the pelvic region
•  Unexplainable indigestion, gas, or bloating
•  Pain during sexual intercourse
•  Abnormal vaginal bleeding
•  Swelling and pain of the abdomen

Early detection of ovarian cancer offers a 90% cure rate. The
combination of
HE4 & CA 125 biomarkers provide a more accurate preoperative determination of the risk for ovarian cancer in women

HE4 + CA 125 Biomarkers for Ovarian Cancer Screening
CA 125 is a biomarker found in greater concentration in ovarian cancer cells than other cells.
HE4 or  Human Epididymis  Protein 4 is a biomarker to increase the sensitivity of CA 125 for the detection of ovarian cancer.
The advantages of  HE4 + CA 125 Biomarkers:
•  HE4 increases CA125 sensitivity for detecting Stage I/II of ovarian cancer
•  More accurate predictor of malignancy than just CA125 or just HE4 test alone
•  Better risk stratification for women presenting with pelvic mass
